Quicken is not designed to be used over a network or shared drive (such as OneDrive or Google Drive). While you can back up data files to a network, you should not open or run Quicken on a network. Ensure Quicken is installed on your computer's hard drive.

Quicken may display one of the following errors when attempting to open, back up, or restore your Quicken data file. Any of the errors below can occur if you try to open your Quicken data file while it is located in your Dropbox folder or another online storage folder.

From past experience, I hate to say that losing 3 weeks of data is probably a blessing. Better to start from a working file, do the time, add the transactions back. Otherwise, you risk discovering 6 months from now that you based your efforts on a corrupted file.
frank finding this blog is a file saver for me. I have been struggling for two weeks. I too noticed the problem only surfaced when quotes where downloaded. I love Macs and can only hope quicken will make a up to date version. iBank is out there but with data from 1995 it would be hard to change.
You might get this error if the shortcut or installation is attempting to access a location that is not currently available such as a networked or a removable drive. I have a new Macbook Air using Catalina version 10.15.6. I was using a 2013 Macbook Air Sierra version 10.12.6. I was using Quicken 2007 and the new Macbook does not support it. Can I somehow transfer my quicken data into Moneydance so I do not lose all the previous info? And how do I do this since I cannot open Quicken on the new laptop?
You need to use Quicken to export your data in a QIF file type. Ensure any closed account that have transfers to any open accounts are included in the QIF file, re-open these accounts if necessary. Export everything Quicken export will allow.
Open the QIF file in a text editor. You are looking for the date format used in the file e.g. D25/03'2019 Day Month Year or D5/ 17'19 or D05/31/2017 Month Day Year etc. You will need this information later. If you get this wrong it will be apparent as the dates in Moneydance will be all over the place and you will need to start again creating a new data set.

Our old version of Quicken 2002SE Personal Plus cannot open the data file. The program and data (23MB file) has been going from 2002. Is there a way to migrate the data to a current version of Quicken or Reckon? I understand Quicken is no longer available in Oz. We only use the software for personal use, so not super critical, but would like to access old data asap (last data entered 18 July 2021, so the wife who manages it is getting a bit anxious) and upgrade to whatever platform is most appropriate. I will check out the Data Services Tip and, if needed, fill out the form for sending data set. I have multiple old back ups and copies of data files when I have changed computers, however think I know which is the most recent data. I tried to send all the info to you as the upload page I got to wanted a specific name and email and then it wouldn't send, saying I need to log in as a Reckon user, which I though I was. I could only find the Qdata.QDF and Qdata.QSD files with the last entry date (18/7/2021). The other files Qdata.QEL and Qdata.QPH had different earlier dates. There is no Qdata.RKN file as we hadn't backed up for a long time thinking my data was backed up by being in OneDrive
There are zero file types associated with the QDT File Extension, with the most widely-observed being the Quicken Data File format. In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a Quicken Data File file that is unsupported by your installed application version. To protect your backup files, you cannot open a Legal Business Pro portfolio while it's stored in the Nolo Document Backups folder. If there's a problem with your original Legal Business Pro portfolio, and you need to use the backup, copy the backup file and paste the copy into a different folder. Once it's outside the Nolo Document Backups folder, you'll be able to open it.
To play it really safe, back up your Legal Business Pro documents files on to a CD-ROM, flash drive, or other external medium. Then, install Legal Business Pro. When this is done, start the program and open your most recently used Legal Business Pro documents file. If you've created any other Legal Business Pro documents files, open them as well.
